Cross Automotive Repair brings business to Cornell
Steve Cross decided to bring a new business with him, when he returned to the Cornell area. Cross Automotive Repair opened on North First Street Nov. 22, in the former location of Tim’s Tire Service.
Cross grew up in Cornell, but moved to the Jim Falls and Chippewa Falls area. While he still lives in Jim Falls, he says he has family living in Cornell.
Before opening his business in Cornell, he worked at another shop in Chippewa Falls for 16 years.
“The opportunity came along to take over this building, so I decided to go on my own,” said Cross.
Cross Automotive offers full-service work for all makes and models, including oil changes, tires, and work with motors and transmissions.
“Pretty much everything,” said Cross.
Cross says he always liked being around automotives and grew up working with cars with his dad. He then went to school to turn the interest into his career.
Cross says business during his first month has been good, and he has kept busy. He says everyone in town has also been very helpful. Right now, Cross doesn’t have any employees, but says he would like to hire if he continues to stay busy, hopefully, in the next year.
The building is also a work in progress. A fresh coat of paint now graces the inside and Cross says he purchased new equipment.
“I’m slowly remodeling,” said Cross. “It’s an old building, so it takes some time.”
Cross is also slowly working to create a police, firefighter and EMS tribute in the waiting area of the shop, and invites anyone who has items they would like to contribute to the display, to contact him. The automotive shop takes walk-ins, but appointments are preferred. Those interested in scheduling an appointment, should call 715-239-2070.
Business hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday, by appointment.
