Under new ownership and a new name since Sept. 1, Don’s 2 continues to accept metals of all types.

Don Blasel is the new owner of the scrap yard, located south of Holcombe, on 240th Avenue, near State Hwy. 27. The location is his second, with the other location in Withee.

Chris and Tasha Wicks are the managers of the yard, and moved to the area, when the business was bought out. Tasha worked for Blasel for over a year, prior to managing the Holcombe location. Their son also works with them.

“We process everything,” said Chris. “All the cars get processed.”

He says the radiators, engines and electrical wiring all are taken out of the vehicles.

“Everything gets recycled,” said Chris.

They also accept appliances of all kinds and aluminum cans.

“Anything that is metal,” said Tasha, adding they do not accept wood or TVs.

Tasha says the scale is up to code.

Some things have changed since the business came under new ownership.

“We are not an antique thrift store,” said Tasha.

The location that previously served as the store, is now their house. That side of the building underwent significant updates before they moved in, to remove mold.

The business half of the building also saw some upgrades, where they put new doors with windows in them and added a window, so they can see the scale easier.

“And, just cleaned it up, ’cause you couldn’t walk in here,” said Tasha.

There is now a front counter in the room. Tasha says they have heard positive feedback from customers who have seen the changes and have kept busy through word of mouth.

Don’s 2 is open Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. No appointments are needed.
