Diane Feiten
Diane R. Feiten, age 89, of Colby, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at the Marshfield Medical Center.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, at Saint Mary of Christian Help Parish in Colby. Father Aruldoss Savarimuthu and Deacon Mike Schaefer will preside. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Colby is entrusted with the arrangements.
Diane was born on December 23, 1936, the daughter of Dr. Leo and Daisy (Ferber) Uelmen in Campbellsport. She graduated from Campbellsport High School, UW-Milwaukee in 1958 and received her master’s degree from Viterbo College. On September 20, 1958, Diane was united in marriage to James Feiten in Campbellsport. He preceded her in death in 1979.
Diane taught preschool in Fond du Lac and Kewaskum. In 1976, they bought the Colby Cheese House. She operated the cheese house until selling the business in 1993. She also was a substitute teacher in the Colby schools.
Diane was very community service-minded and volunteered her heart and soul for her community. She served on both the Colby City Council and Clark County Board, Business and Professional Women (BPW), was a founding member of the “Farm Wife of the Year” and the Clark County Economic Development Corporation. Diane was a member of the Colby Lions Club and a proud member of the Democratic Party. She also was an advocate for children with disabilities and a voice for those who could not speak for themselves and devoted many years in prison ministry at Oxford Federal Prison. Diane was also very active in her church parish, including serving as Director of Religious Education, RCIA, PCCW, Fall Fest, Eucharistie Minister and lecturer just to name a few. She was most proud, though, of making sure her children all graduated from college, while raising them as a single parent.
Diane is survived by her six children: Joseph of Colby, Jerianne (John Kincaid) Feiten of Kewaskum, Patricia (Rich Jensen) Feiten of Seattle, Wash., Karen (Mike) Krueger of Fond du Lac, Mary (Jeff) Blase of Oregon, WI and John (Tina) of Colby; 12 grandchildren: Nicole Feiten, Taylor Feiten, Cortney (Phil) Davidson, Chad (Katie) Cisewski, Mitch Gustafson, Malcolm (Tabitha) Gustafson, Erin Blase, Lily Blase, Isabelle Feiten (fiancé, Cade Littleton), Daisy Feiten, Hillary Feiten and Pearl Mary Feiten; five great-grandchildren: Finley Schleinz, Madeline Gustafson, Eleanor Gustafson, Emma Gustafson and Bastian Davidson. She is further survived by her brother, Doug Uelmen of Green Bay; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; a grandson, Peter John and four siblings: David, Don, Dan and Daisy.
