Charlotte Peterson Charlotte Peterson

Charlotte Mae Peterson, age 69, of Colby, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026, at Abbotsford Health Care Center, under the tender care of St. Croix Hospice.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, at 3:16 Church in Abbotsford, 122 N. 2nd St., Abbotsford, to celebrate the life of Charlotte Mae Peterson. Pastor Randy Mantik will preside. Family and friends are welcome from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Colby. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.

Charlotte was born July 27, 1957, the daughter of Lawrence and Rita (Schmitt) Peterson, in Marshfield. She was raised on her parent’s family farm in Abbotsford and graduated from Abbotsford High School. She spent most of her life working as a CNA for several local nursing homes and facilities. On her days off she would go to the facilities to play games and visit with the residents. She devoted her life to helping others and never wanted anything in return.

Charlotte’s family and faith were very important to her. Although she never married, she enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews, treating them as if they were her own children. She lived out her faith through her active involvement in her churches and was not afraid to share it with others. Charlotte enjoyed spending time outside, tending flowerbeds and gardening. She could often be found working on latch hook and embroidery. She enjoyed working on puzzles, playing Scrabble and cards, but refused to play Bingo as that was an old person’s game. She had a very large sense of humor and could always make you smile. She made Tim Conway proud!

Charlotte is survived by her siblings: Arden Peterson, Beth Panten, Brian (Marla) Peterson, Theresa (Ray) Sobeck and Ann (Larry) Sundermeyer, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Priscilla; two brothers: Duane and Kenneth; brothers-in-law: Narcis Dugenske and James Panten; sister-in-law, Judith; nephews: Jeff Panten, Kurt and Robert Sundermeyer, and niece, Danielle Ellis.
