Melvin Kudingo
Melvin Kudingo, age 79, of Abbotsford, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, at Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford. The Rev. James Groleau will preside. Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church. Burial will follow at Abbotsford Public Cemetery with military honors provided by the Colby VFW Post #2227. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.
Mel was born on May 7,1947, the son of John and Helen Kudingo in Stanley. He served in the U.S. National Guard from 1964-1970. Mel was united in marriage to Sharon Huff on March 15, 1969, in Butler. Soon after, they moved to Abbotsford. He worked at Liberty Homes and retired from Land O’ Lakes.
As a groupie of The Strat Cats, Mel would be the first on the dance floor and the last one to leave, even after the lights went out. He also enjoyed soft jazz and 40’s music, classic cars, playing pool and watching videos on YouTube. Most importantly, Mel loved and cherished his family.
Mel is survived by his two daughters: Kelly Kesery (Robert Meredith) of New Berlin and Deborah (Scott) Kudingo Winter of Pa.; several grandchildren including Kaitlyn (Kendall) of Sun Prairie; several great-grandchildren including Charli and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sharon, on February 12,2024.
