William “Bill” Speich

William “Bill” John Speich passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026, at House of the Dove hospice in Marshfield, from complications relating to pancreatic cancer. He was 76.
Bill was born on Jan. 13, 1950, in Neillsville, the son of John D. and Katherine E. (Perman) Speich. He was raised on the family dairy farm just north of Greenwood, and received his education in area schools, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1968. Following graduation, he attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for two years, after which he joined his mother and father as a partner of Speich Dairy Farm, where he worked and lived until his death. The centennial dairy started with 18 cows when it was first settled by Bill’s grandfather in the early 1900s and grew to 70 milking cows plus stock under Bill’s stewardship.
In addition to his love for farming, he was a car aficionado, particularly for Ford Mustangs, proudly owning a 1970 blue, white double-striped Ford Mustang Mach 1.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Katherine and John D. Speich; his sister, Marian Haley; and his brother, Tom Speich, formerly of Greenwood, Surprise, Ariz., and Vacaville, Calif., respectively.
Bill is survived by his brother, Mike (Patti) Speich of Wisconsin Rapids; and nieces: Emmy Speich of Milwaukee, and Brehon (Keith) Hoffman and their children, Kaylynn and Tarren, of Wisconsin Rapids.
He also is survived by his sisters: Diane (Mike) Martens of Orangevale, Calif., and Margaret Speich (Steve Berchem) of Lewes, Del., and their daughter, Emily (Schuyler) Bates of Arlington, Va. Other survivors include his niece, Mara (Justin) Seigel and grand-niece Sutton Seigel of Surprise, Ariz.; nephew, Sean (Lauren) Haley and grandnephew Carter Haley of Tempe, Ariz.; as well as his sister-in-law, Starla Speich, and grand-nieces, Sage and Brooke Speich of California.
A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Green Grove Mennonite Fellowship Center, N12253 County Road P, Owen, from 4-7 p.m.
