Dale “Hoppie” Lavern Seng

With heavy hearts, Dale “Hoppie” Lavern Seng, 81, was called home, at the family farm, Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

Dale’s sense of humor, his little dog in his shirt, his big friendly smile and extremely generous heart, was infectious and left an imprint on everyone who knew him.

Dale was an absolutely incredible man, son, Marine, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and a friend to everyone, who was blessed enough to ever know him.

He is survived by wife – Josephine Seng, of 57 years; his dog – Emma; five children – James (Diane) Seng, Michael (Julie) Seng, Daniel (Paula) Seng, Sheila (Lonnie) Jones and Tonya (Chad) Urevig; was also blessed with 16 grandchildren – Paula Peterson, Brian (Sara) Peterson, Jena (Dylan) Klimpke, Cody (Gao) Seng, Samantha (Brian) Seng, Chandel (Dustin) Lamberty, Michael (Bri) Seng, Bo Seng, Desiree (Michael) Kruth, Jasmin (Jake) Eichelt, Nick (Kelsey) Seng, Johanna (Nathan) Lund, Jyle (Caitlyn) Jones, Tristin Jones, Derek Jones and Schanon Frahm III; 27 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents – Earl and Marion (Nash) Seng; his sisters – Patricia (Gerald) Jones and Martha (Harry) Poppe; and his brothers – Lyle Seng and Tom Seng.

Visitation for Dale, is Saturday, June 6, from 9-11 a.m., followed by funeral services, at 11 a.m., at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cornell. Burial proceeds the funeral services, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, in Huron.
