Norma Prestien

Norma Lee Prestien, age 95, of Unity, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at House of the Dove, surrounded by loved ones and under the tender care of Compassus Hospice. Private Interment will be at Garden of Memories in Waterloo, Iowa. Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.

Norma was born on May 15, 1930, to Darrell and Bessie (Minns) Lantz in Fowler, Ind. Norma was married to Harlan Prestien on October 23, 1949, in Tripoli, Iowa, for 66 years, until he passed away Oct. 11, 2015. Together they farmed for 54 years west of Unity.

Norma loved to bowl, play cards and grow a big garden on the farm. She belonged to the Maplewood Homemakers in Unity for 30 years. During the summer, Norma loved having company from Iowa and driving tractor.

Norma is survived by her sons: John Prestien of Unity and Daniel Prestien of Black Creek; five grandchildren: Deidra, D.J., Molly, Meredith and Devon and three greatgrandchildren: Angela, Norma and Silas. She is further survived by one sister-in-law, Judy Batterson and special nieces: Beckle (Randy) Bockenstedt and Cheryl (Dave) Thompson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Harlan and three brothers: William, Robert and Richard.
