Anton P. “Tony” Slemec, 100, of Willard, passed away at Neillsville Retirement Community in Neillsville on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in the Willard Cemetery, with Rev. Emmanuel Famiyeh officiating. Military rites were conducted by the Greenwood American Legion Post #238.

Anton Paul Slemec was born on June 26, 1925, in Willard, to Joseph and Frances (Fortuna) Slemec. He was raised on the family farm, and received his education at McKinley School and Greenwood High School. Tony entered the U.S. Army on Jan. 19, 1949, and served until his honorable discharge on Oct. 15, 1951. After his discharge, he moved to Milwaukee and worked at American Motors until being called back to serve during the Korean War. Tony returned to Milwaukee and continued working for American Motors until retiring in 1977. He then came back to the home farm in Willard and farmed with his brothers, Rudy and Val.

Tony had many interests, but especially enjoyed trapping, and fishing, and he loved hunting.

He is survived by one brother, James Slemec, of South Saint Paul, Minn.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Rudolph, Edward, Valentine, and Robert; and two sisters: Olga Slemec and Josephine Drescher.
