Carol Bitter

Carol Joan Stowe Bitter passed away Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025, at Holy Cross Health in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., surrounded by her family. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Fla.

Carol was the youngest daughter of John Benage Stowe and Marion Geisler Stowe, born on April 11, 1935, in the township of Beaver, Clark County. She attended school in Loyal. She married Melvin H. Bitter on Sept. 5, 1953, in Loyal. They were married just shy of 60 years when “Mel” passed away in 2013.

Carol was a talented, loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Carol is survived by her two daughters, Debra and Faye; and two sons, Ervin and Scot; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and both sisters.
