Carolyn Mae Sammon

Carolyn Mae Sammon, 88, Cornell, passed away Friday, May 29, 2020, at Cornell Health Services.

Carolyn was born May 15, 1932, to William and Lillie (Falbe) Zinsli, in Ladysmith.

She graduated from Cornell High School in 1952, then lived in Rockford, Ill., and later returned to Cornell.

Carolyn enjoyed shooting pool for the Sunday afternoon league, watching the Geen Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and the San Diego Padres, working at the Cornell Theatre in the early 2000s. There, she was known as the ticket lady and enjoyed shopping every Monday, with her best friend, Vi McCann.

Carolyn loved to cook and bake, gardening and loved her dark chocolate. She also loved butterflies and watching the birds in her bird feeder outside her window.

She is survived by her sons – Jay Sammon, Chippewa Falls, and Rusty Sammon, Cornell; grandchildren – Ember Sammon and Gloria (Hoss) Kvapil; great-grandchildren – Thaddeus Micha Sammon-Brandt, Mariah Cross and Sabrina Christie; four great-great-grandsons; a brother – William (Julie) Zinsli, Menomonie; a sister-in-law – Bonnie Zinsli, Cornell; and by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents – William and Lillie Zinsli; grandmother – Mathilda Falbe; sister – Irene (Melvin) Albrecht; a brother – Dick Zinsli; and a greatgrandson – Kayson Olson.

A public memorial service will be held at a later date, with the date and time to be determined, and updated on the Borton- Leiser Funeral Home website.
