Bruce Weiler
Bruce George Weiler 'Coyote', passed away unexpectedly on September 22, 2026, at the age of 64. He was born on May 18, 1962, to Bernard and Sharon Weiler (Mason) in Arcadia. Bruce spent his early years in Arcadia, then Minnesota and Connecticut before moving to Athens where he was raised on the family farm. He attended St. Anthony's Catholic School and graduated from Athens High School in 1980.
After many early mornings on the family farm, Bruce left home at the age of 18 and began his working career at Edgar Packing. He later advanced to a role in maintenance at Tombstone Pizza while earning his Millwrights degree. Following that, he excelled as warehouse manager at Welcome Dairy, from which he later retired. Bruce never slowed down, spending most days with his brother Russ working hard and helping others.
Bruce was united in marriage with Brenda (Venzke) on October 18, 1986, at St. John High Steeple in Edgar. They quickly became two peas in a pod, complimenting each other as they both share a deep love for the outdoors and sports. Bruce was full throttle, and Brenda could keep up. Together they purchased a home on ten acres in Dorchester. Bruce had a love for archery, hunting deer and turkey; a hobby that grew while becoming best friends with his son, Austin. Bruce felt a strong desire to be in the woods. After he retired, he spent many hours each day cutting up fallen trees, clearing brush and making firewood for himself and others. Together, Bruce and Brenda developed a special place in their hearts for canoeing, camping and fishing in the Boundary Waters. He was always eager to share stories and memories in vivid detail, carefully preserving the moments he cherished most.
Bruce was a competitive athlete who loved the game as deeply as he loved the people he played it with. Bruce achieved exceptional success bowling, recording more than a dozen perfect 300 games and numerous 800 series. For many years, Bruce competed in coed softball leagues with Brenda, while later participating in men's leagues with some of the best. Recently, Bruce took up horseshoes with characteristic dedication. Another passion of his was taking his Harley out on sunny days and going on long bike trips with his close friend, Hack. Family was everything to Bruce. His greatest joy was spending time with his kids; traveling together with Brenda, exploring new places with his daughters, April and Amber, as well as year-round shared leagues with Austin. In most recent years he enjoyed being the fun-loving grandpa to his four grandchildren. Bruce was known for his enthusiasm; his hellos and goodbyes were second to none. The energy he possessed drew you in...and sometimes kept you for hours longer than planned. He is life, and love, and everything good in between.
Bruce is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Brenda, their three children: April (Alex) of Medford, Amber (JT) of Appleton and Austin (Jade) of Medford; four grandchildren: Greylen, Nayvie and Maela (Austin) and Beau (April); his siblings: Mark Weiler, Russ (Naoma) Weiler, Patte (Brian) Ellenbecker and Bernie (Kari) Weiler; and motherin- law, Dolores Venzke. He is further survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Sharon Weiler, and father-in-law, Thomas Venzke.
