Jon Podevels

Jon Albert Podevels, age 61, of Abbotsford, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at UW Health University Hospital in Madison, with his loving family by his side.

Jon was born on April 10, 1965, the son of Albert Jr. “Junior” and Everdeen “Evie” (Viegut) Podevels in Marshfield. He graduated from Colby High School in 1983. On March 13, 1992, Jon was united in marriage to Jenny Schubert, and together they raised three children.

Jon was a hardworking man who spent most of his life working in concrete construction, getting his start as a saw man for Trierweiler Construction, before eventually venturing out on his own, owning and operating a concrete business, Podevels Concrete, for many years.

Jon was the kind of person others could count on. Whatever someone needed, whenever they needed it, he showed up. Whether that was attending every game or event for his kids or grandkids, coaching youth sports, or helping a friend or family member out, he was there.

He was also known for being exactly who he was. He had a lifelong love for cards, especially cribbage, along with music, Wisconsin sports and good company. He was always good for a oneliner, and rarely seen without a Hawaiian shirt.

Above all, what he loved most in life was his family, especially his children and grandchildren, and that love will live on in them.

Jon is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jenny; three children: Jory of Abbotsford, Nikki (Tyler) Hoernke of Altoona and Payton of Abbotsford; three grandchildren: Riley Podevels, Declan and Tatum Hoernke; his mother, Evie Podevels of Colby; six siblings: Diane (Matt) Del Fatti of Greenwood, Rick (Donna) Podevels of Barnes, Loni (Bob) Klinke of Greenwood, Kent (Joan) Podevels of Marshfield, Dawn (Randy) Klieforth

of Phillips and Brad (Trish) Podevels of Colby; two brothers-in-law: Pete (Joan) Schubert of Baton Rouge, La. and Kurt (Kathy) Schubert of Madison. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and greatnephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Junior Podevels and niece, Gina Johnson.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford with Pastor Don Everhard presiding. Friends may greet the family from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

After the service, the family will be hosting an open house at the Podevels residence where all are welcome to join.
