William Clough
1952-2026
William Wi l l i am “Bill” Clough, 73, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, following a long, hard-fought battle with cancer.
He was born on Nov. 15, 1952, to Patrick and Edith Clough of Perkinstown. Bill served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1976 and was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he worked several jobs before settling into a lifelong career as an over-the-road trucker in the moving industry. He took immense pride in his work and his trucks, especially his beloved “Big Bunk” trucks later in his career. Throughout his travels, he touched hundreds of lives, making lifelong friends across the country with his colleagues and the people he helped move.
In retirement, Bill enjoyed spending time working on his property in Perkinstown, logging, reading, and collecting. Proud of his mechanical skills, he spent hours maintaining the equipment he acquired through the years. Bill was a lifelong learner who was always working to expand his knowledge, which included regularly watching heavy diesel mechanic and machinery channels on YouTube.
He is survived by his children, Callender Clough and Mariah Schoonover; his grandchildren, Weston and Harper Schoonover; his brothers, Gene, Rick, Mike, and Patrick; his sisters, Betty, Linda, Jeneane, Kathleen, and Laura; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his younger brother, Gerald.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Hope Hospice, the nurses and social workers at the VA, as well as the many doctors and nurses at Aspirus Wausau, Aspirus Medford, and the University of Minnesota, who cared for Bill so well during his cancer journey.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 19, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the P-Town Saloon in Perkinstown.
