Alice M. Deuel
Alice M. Deuel, 94, of Sheldon, passed away at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire on May 7, 2026 with her daughters by her side.
She was born Aug. 12, 1931 to Peter and Anna (Nesterick) Filipiak in rural Stanley.
She graduated from Gilman High School in 1949 and was then employed at the Office of Bureau of Engraving in Minneapolis until 1951.
She then moved to Eau Claire to work at the city desk at H.T. Lange as a wholesale grocer until her marriage on May 3, 1952 to Herbert Deuel at the First Presbyterian Church in Gilman.
After a month of marriage, Herb was drafted into the U.S. Army and sent to Fort Riley, KS. After his 8 weeks of basic training, she moved to Manhattan, KS until his deployment to Germany the end of December.
She returned to Eau Claire to work at H.T. Lange again and US Rubber (UniRoyal) until June, 1954 when Herb returned from Germany.
Upon his return, they moved to Sheldon and purchased the Arnold Telephone Co., which they operated for 10 years before merging with Universal Telephone of Milwaukee.

She enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, where they covered all but three states. She attended the grandchildrens’ school functions and loved spending time playing games with them. She especially enjoyed playing cards. She was an avid Packers, Brewers and Badgers fan. She was also an active member of the Sheldon Legion Auxiliary for 61 years, the Sheldon Senior Citizens Club and a past member of the Sheldon Homemakers Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (Walt) Lang, of Sheldon, and Karen Krizan, of Chippewa Falls; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Dale Kistner) Koss, of Elk Mound, Amanda (Shawn Stoner) DeSmith, of Menomonie, Jason (Lauren) Lang, of Nashville, Tenn. and Chad (Caylyn) Krizan, of Olathe, Kan.; six great-grandchildren, Anna Koss, Blake DeSmith, Lois Lang and Daxton, Ruby and Esther Krizan; one sister, Eleanor Almos, of Northfield, Minn; and two sistersin- law, Pat Filipiak, of Hawkins, and Jan Filipiak, of Hudson.
Preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; two sisters, Florence Pawlik and Dorothy Filipiak; sisterin- law, Patricia Knapp; three brothers, Peter, William and Richard; and three brothers-in-law, Joe Pawlik, Kurt Almos and Virgil Knapp.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the Sheldon Church of Christ with Jim Allard officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Luncheon will follow at the church. Private family burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
