James “Jimmy” P. Quednow
James “Jimmy” P. Quednow, age 64, of Rib Lake, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, under palliative care at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Jimmy was born on Feb. 20, 1962, in Medford, to Peter and Joanne (Hanson) Quednow. Jimmy graduated from Rib Lake High School in 1980. Following graduation, he began his working career at Weather Shield Manufacturing and later spent time in Pecos, Texas, working in a sulfur mine. He eventually relocated to Grand Rapids, Mich., where he was employed by the 7UP Bottling Company. Jimmy and his family later moved to Hartford, where he worked for Coca-Cola. He went on to earn his LPN degree and became a nurse at The Pavilion at Glacier Valley in Slinger. He remained dedicated to his work until suffering a stroke in February of 2020. After his stroke, Jimmy returned to his hometown of Westboro to be closer to family. He later became a resident of Rib Lake Nursing Home where he lived until the time of his passing.

Jimmy loved music more than anything else and loved to share the sound of music with his buddy, Zooey. He was an avid Packers and Brewers fan and loved the camaraderie shared during deer season and going to the cabin. Jimmy was especially proud of his son, Kyle, and loved watching him play football, especially in college when he played for the UW Oshkosh Titans. Jimmy loved impersonating people he knew and making others around him laugh.
Survivors include his son, Kyle (Becky) Quednow; and his granddaughter, Mia; his parents, Peter and Joanne Quednow; his brothers, Mike (Debbie) Quednow and Tom (Carmen) Quednow; and his sisters, Patty Thiede and Carrie (Todd) Ewan. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Mildred Hanson; and his paternal grandmother, Katherine Stams.
A memorial service was held on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 11 a.m., at the Woodland Community Church in Westboro. The family received friends for visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.
