Steven Douglas Nikkila, age 64, of Ogema, passed away peaceful Wednesday, April 8, 2026 surrounded by loved ones under the tender care of the staff at Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center. The son of Roy and Bernice (Swanson) Nikkila, Steven was born on July 30, 1961 in Tomahawk. Steven graduated from Prentice High School in 1979. He worked at Marathon Cheese before venturing out on his own to start a lawn care business. A man of many skills, he could always be counted on to tackle and complete any odd job.

An avid outdoorsman, Steven loved to hunt, fish and camp, and especially enjoyed hiking with his dog,

Remi. He found genuine joy in the simple pleasures of life, from maple tapping in early spring to spending hours antique shopping in search of hidden treasures. Steven loved a good scary movie or a lighthearted comedy. Above all, his greatest happiness came from his family and friends. He loved them deeply, cherished every moment spent together, and took great pride on being someone they could always count.

Steven is survived by his two children, Kristin and Brandon Nikkila; and five siblings, Dale (Brenda) Nikkila, Allan (Jean) Nikkila, Sharon (Leroy) Weinke, Phyllis (Roy) Prill and Evelyn (John) Vancha. He is further survived by his beloved dog, Remi.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Edward, Duane, and Mark Nikkila.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Maurina Schilling Funeral Home is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
