Audrey Marie Carson
The former, Audrey Marie Fleischman, was born April 12, 1931 in Medford to Anton “Tony” Fleischman and Anna (Gruny) Fleischman, and passed away Jan. 26, 2026 at the age of 94, holding the hand of her daughter, Karen. A funeral Mass for Audrey will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 12:30 p.m. with Father Patrick McConnell officiating. Visitation will take place at 10:30 a.m. until the service begins at 12:30 p.m. After the funeral service, a luncheon will take place in the Fireside Lounge within the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Audrey received part of her education at Holy Rosary School and Medford High School.
On Aug. 27, 1946 Audrey entered St. Joseph’s Convent in Milwaukee, where she completed her education. Along with her education, she was taught the art of operating a variety of printing presses in the Seraphic Press Printing Department. Her work consisted of printing prayer books, religious coloring books, in English and Spanish, which were for poor children here and abroad. Additionally, she printed many school year books, hospital forms, envelopes, stationary, monthly magazines, and other materials as needed.
After sixteen years of printing, Audrey’s eyesight was troublesome, so she was sent to Campbellsport to assist the elderly Sisters. She also attended St. Agnes College in Fond du Lac and taught C.C.D. in Milwaukee. Furthermore, she drove her fellow Sisters many miles to hospitals, schools, churches, and airports.
After six years in Campbellsport, Audrey was called to Marian Hall in Milwaukee, a place where young women trained as they looked to their future in religious life. She was also a weekly Sunday morning volunteer at Milwaukee County T.B. Hospital.
After twenty-two years in the Catholic religious order, Audrey decided to return to secular life in 1968.
On Aug. 30, 1969, Audrey married Clarence E. Carson in Milwaukee. She worked at Milwaukee County General Hospital as a unit secretary and later at Wisconsin Cuneo Press. On Jan. 11, 1972, Audrey and Clarence welcomed their daughter, Karen, into the world.
1931-2026
In 1979, after ninety-one inches of snow in Milwaukee, Audrey, Clarence, and Karen moved to Florida. Audrey worked at Bayonet Point Hospital as a unit secretary and for Upjohn Home Health. Every day she volunteered at school teaching reading, writing, and penmanship.
In 1987, they returned to Medford to assist in caring for Audrey’s elderly mother. Audrey worked at Memorial Nursing Home for a short time and Home Health Care as a CNA for eight years.
Audrey was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence E. Carson; parents, Anton “Tony” Fleischman and Anna (Gruny) Fleischman; brothers, Donald (Belle) Fleischman, Raymond Fleischman, and Thomas Fleischman; and one sister-in-law, Shirley (Carson) Nero.

Audrey was especially happy with her little family nearby, with much love for her only grandchild, Kayla, whom she was very proud of.
Audrey enjoyed driving back and forth from Florida to Medford, taking different sight-seeing routes and visiting places of interest with her husband and daughter. She also enjoyed air travel to visit her family and friends. Her pastimes included reading, crocheting, admiring and caring for flowers, and spending time with her pets, all of which were loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Audrey’s name may be given to the family for uses that will be designated at a later date.
Audrey’s family would like to thank the staff of Aspirus Care and Rehab, Cedar Lane Assisted Living, and Hope Hospice for the kind and compassionate care she received.
