Janet Louise Cypher

1960-2025
Janet Louise Cypher, 65, of Rib Lake, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family while under the care of Hope Hospice. She was born on Sept. 14, 1960, in Medford, to James and Charlotte (Krug) Prell. Janet grew up in Stetsonville, where she helped on the family farm and developed a strong work ethic that would define her life. While in high school, she participated in a workstudy program at Memorial Hospital’s pharmacy, where she began her long and dedicated career as a pharmacy technician. After graduating from Medford High School in 1978, Janet continued her work in the pharmacy field for the next 45 years, retiring from Aspirus Hospital in June 2023 to devote her time to caring for her beloved grandchildren in Rib Lake.
On Dec. 4, 1981, Janet married the love of her life, Jerry Cypher, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Holway. Together, they built a family that brought her immense pride and joy. Janet and her husband could often be found traveling near and far to support their children and grandchildren in their many activities— she was their most devoted fan.
Janet was also a gifted quilter, creating countless beautiful pieces that will be cherished by family and friends for generations. As an active member of the WELCA ladies’ group at Our Saviour’s, she lovingly donated a handmade quilt each year to the church’s anniversary dinner in October.
She found joy in the simple things—watching and feeding the birds outside her window, cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers, and spending quiet, meaningful moments with her family.
Janet will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, creativity, and unwavering love for her family.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; their three children, Bobb (Bri) Cypher, of Germany, Danny (Jill) Cypher, of Westboro, Amy (Scott) Ketterhagen, of Rib Lake; siblings, Ricky Prell, Linda (Cliff) Dyer and Mary (Steve) Henrichs; in-laws, Mark (Tammy) Lammar, Jeff Cypher, Greg (Shell) Cypher, and Lori (Marvin) Cardinal; six grandchildren, Paige (Dalton) Isaacson, Oliver and Evie Cypher, Jordy, Sean and Ryan Ketterhagen; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Judy (Mike) Bertsinger and JoEllen Lammar; father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Audrey Cypher; and two nieces, Cassie Cypher and Becky (Josh) Mann.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 10, 2025 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Holway with Rev. Bob Giese and Barb Krug, SAM officiating.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated and will be designated by the family at a later date.
