Anna Tauchen


Anna L. Tauchen, age 101, formerly of Dorchester and Curtiss, passed away on Wednesday, Sept.ember 17, 2025, at Cornell Health Services under the tender care of St. Croix Hospice.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. The Rev. Teri Hanson will preside. Interment to follow at the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery North. Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
Anna was born on September 5, 1924, the daughter of Fred and Katherine (Thormalen) Matson in Withee. She graduated from Withee High School and received a teaching degree from UW-Stevens Point. Anna taught for many years, first at Forest Grove and eventually retiring from teaching second grade from Owen-Withee. She continued to substitute teach until she was 80 years old.
Anna was united in marriage on May 26, 1951, to Rudolph Tauchen at Peace United Church of Christ in Dorchester. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2004. They farmed near Dorchester and then bought a farm near Curtiss. She was a long time active member of the Peace UCC. Anna’s family was most important to her and she loved attending her children and grandchildren’s events, even flying to Germany.
Anna is survived by her four children: Henry (Cathy) Tauchen of Loveland, Colo., Joe (Dee) Tauchen of Sand Creek, Bob (Cathy) Tauchen of Urbandale, Iowa, and Mary (Steve) LaVigne of Prescott Valley, Arizona.; 11 grandchildren: Michael (Katrina) Tauchen, David (Adam) Tauchen, Kimberly Hulle, Phil Tauchen, Kristina (Ryan) Stephenson, Christopher (Cadhla McDonnell) Tauchen, Katrina (Jared) Wortman, Spencer (Jenna) Tauchen, Abbey (Jonathan) Larimore, Deby Hyland and Don (Sarah) Alexander; and 21 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five sisters and one brother: Freida, Amelia, Harold, Hilda, Katherine and Lillian.
