1933-2025

On July 14, 2025, Vernell Mae Rodman was called home to meet Jesus. Mom was born on Nov. 5, 1933, in the Town of Bern, Marathon County, to Charles and Sophie (Post) Weiler. Mom graduated from Athens High School. On Sept. 3, 1952, she married the love of her life, Hebert Rodman Jr. Together they raised five children. In addition to farming, Mom was an amazing seamstress and avid bowler, participating in many Pin-Buster tournaments. She also enjoyed playing slow-pitch, snowmobiling, camping, polka dancing, playing cards, gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mom worked at Edgar Basket, Time Federal Savings and Loan, Weyerhaeuser, and Tombstone Pizza. After retiring Mom enjoyed traveling, visiting many states.

Mom was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years; her parents; her brother, Eugene Weiler; and her son-in-law, Jerry Dassow. Mom is survived by her children, Lorna (John) Roesler, Cindy Dassow, Dale (Christine) Rodman, Mary Braun, and Sarah Rodman. She is also survived by her sister, Eileen (Jerry) Faucher; eleven grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the wonderful care she received from the Athenian Living and the St. Croix Hospice staff members who made her final journey much easier.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. George Graham will preside. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service, all at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in memory of Vernell.
