Edward A. Pitkanen

1934-2024

Edward A. Pitkanen, 89, of Ogema, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Vita Care, in Medford, under the care of St. Croix Hospice. A memorial service for Edward will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2024, with Pastor Jeff Ahonen officiating; burial will follow at Leavitt Creek Cemetery. Visitation will take place at Hemer-Pickerign Funeral Home on Sunday, May 19, from 12 p.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m.

Edward was born on Aug. 8, 1934 to Andrew and Anna (Linden) Pitkanen in the Town of Hill. He attended Westboro schools. He enlisted in the Army in 1955 and served until 1958. He then went to work for Honeywell in Minnesota, California, and Australia. He moved back to the Ogema area in 1972 and worked for Ram Rod Hydraulics until his retirement. He married Jean Herrand and she preceded him in death.

Edward is survived by his sister, Aileen Erdman of Medford; and many nieces and nephews.

Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; brothers, Carl, Herman, and Wilho Pitkanen; sisters, Lydia Nowkki, Lorraine Klomsten, Kathryn Stensloff, and Hilma Griffin.
