Richard Viergutz

Richard “Slats” E. Viergutz, 91, of Medford, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Aspirus Care and Rehab.

Cremation rites have been accorded and no services will be held.

Richard was born on April 24, 1932, to Ferd and Hilda (Borman) Viergutz in Medford. He lived on Gibson Street in Medford for all his life. He worked various jobs since he was 17 years old. He worked for the City of Medford for seven years and for S.D. Ellenbecker, off and on, until his retirement at 62. He married Shirley Kleinschmidt-Clarkson on October 3, 1981.

Richard loved ice fishing and hunting. He was always there to help others. Richard is survived by his wife, Shirley; step-children: Rick and Sue Clarkson; and step-grandson, Jesse Clarkson.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harvey; and sisters, Mildred and Margerie.
