Darrel Dehlinger

Darrel A. Dehlinger, 70, Marathon, formerly of Athens, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born May 27, 1953, in Wausau, son of the late Alfred and Madelia (Alberts) Dehlinger. On June 17, 1972, he married Marion Kohl at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens.

Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, golfing and woodworking. He also loved watching his grandkids participate in sporting events, like football, wrestling, basketball, track and field and volleyball.

Survivors include his wife, Marion Dehlinger, Marathon; two children: Jamie (Holly) Dehlinger, Stratford and Jessie (Jonah) Glodowski, Wausau; nine grandchildren: Derek, Dilan, Makenna, Gavin, Ava, Arial, Autumn, Jarek and Jovie; one brother, John (Joan) Hanson, Tomah; one sister, Susan Degner, Stevens Point; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Hanson, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings: Delores “Dori” Beckman, Marian Kottke and Larry Hanson.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. George Graham will preside. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Visitation will be on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Darrel’s memory. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com.
