Roy J. Anderson, 79, of Marshfield, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, Wisconsin. Proud of his service in Vietnam, he was lovingly cared for by the staff at King during his last years with dementia. He was surrounded by family and is now at peace with his memories. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 1 p.m. until service time. Rev. Mark Krueger will officiate. The service will be streamed online at www. facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home following the service by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield.

Roy was born on Sept. 17, 1944 in Medford, to Howard and Lois (Hadenfeldt) Anderson. He was a graduate of Wausau Technical School.

In April of 1969 he married Betty J. Laube. They were married for 46-years before Betty lost her life to cancer in 2015. He was most proud of their three girls, Lisa, Tami, Sara and their husbands, whom he loved like sons.

Roy was a true northwoodsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors. Known by his grandchildren as “Papa” he taught them how to appreciate nature and of course how to cast a fishing pole.

He spent his career building and designing homes for families, having worked most of his career with Schueller Construction of Marshfield.

He used his skills to show his love of family by building outdoor sandboxes, picnic tables and drawing plans for everyone’s remodeling projects.

He is survived by three daughters, Lisa (J.D.) Fratzke of Minneapolis, Minn., Tami (David) Ford of Atlanta, Ga., and Sara (Shane) Lauthen of Cottage Grove, Minn. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Nina Fratzke, Lauren and James Ford, and Mya, Aria and Nolan Lauthen. He is further survived by a sister, Myrna (Walter) Bucki of Dresser.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
