Bernice Poulda Krizan, 83 of Stanley, formerly of Gilman, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024 at the Homeplace-Stanley. She was born on Nov. 3, 1940 in Downers Grove, Illinois to the late Michael and Cecilia (Schaefer) Olejnichak. Her family moved to the Gilman area when she was a young girl and she graduated from Gilman High School in 1958. She married Edgar Poulda on May 21, 1960. He died suddenly in 1970. Bernie later married Paul Krizan on June 29, 1998. Paul passed away in 2011.

Bernie worked at the Drangles Cheese factory, had Bernie’s Liquor and Bait store, worked for Romig’s, and later at Zastrow’s Care Center. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, and being with her family.

She is survived by her two sons, Edgar (Tari) Poulda of Cadott and Michael (Kim) Poulda of Medford; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jake) Wik, Emily (Chayne) Bourget, Julianna Poulda and Edgar Poulda, III; and six great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother, Jerry (Pat) Olejnichak of Medford.

Bernie was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands; her daughter, Susan; a sister, Juliana and brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Sylvia Olejnichak.

A funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 5, 2024 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church-Gilman with Father Patrick McConnell officiating. Burial followed in Meadowbrook Catholic Cemetery- Gilman. Visitation was one hour prior to mass Monday at the church. Plombon Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
