Donald Harold Scheibe Donald Harold Scheibe

Donald Harold Scheibe, age 93, of Stetsonville, entered his heavenly home Monday, Aug. 10, 2026 with family at his side, under the tender care of Hope Hospice. The Maurina Schilling Funeral Home is entrusted with the funeral arrangements. Don was born Oct. 17, 1932 in Abbotsford, to Arthur and Verna (Schultz) Scheibe. Growing up in Abbotsford, Don sang in the church choir, he and his friends would skip out after the last song to run to the bowling alley to set pins. He was a graduate of Abbotsford High School and remained close to his friends throughout the years. He was the last of the cherished group to pass away, a testament to the enduring bonds they shared.

After graduation Don worked at Inland Steel in Milwaukee until a strike brought him back home to Abbotsford. He then worked a variety of jobs, including at a cheese factory and driving gravel truck, before beginning his career in the auto body business. In 1972 he went into partnership and started D& D Body and Repair Shop in Stetsonville. He retired in 1999.

Don met Dorothy (Gumz) at Cherokee Park, where a simple walk along the river turned into the beginning of their love story. As they walked together, Dorothy tripped and fell into the river and Don pulled her to safety. One year later, May 25, 1955 they were united in marriage at Peace United Church of Christ in Dorchester. Together, they were blessed with three children Dennis, Daniel and Diane and would celebrate 71 years of marriage until the time of Dorothy’s passing in March 2026.

He was a passionate fisherman and enjoyed bowling, spending time with family, traveling, playing
