Mary Schwabe

Mary E. Schwabe, age 79, of the Town of Eau Pleine, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023 at House of the Dove in Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stratford with Rev. Sengole Vethanayagam presiding. Burial at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Eau Pleine will be held at a later date. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. The honor of pallbearer belongs to: Abbigail Dennee, Caitlin Schulz, Bailey Schwabe, Max Schwabe, Mitch Nosbisch and Jeffrey Zinthefer.

Mary was born to Clarence and Dorothy (Hertz) Burish on March 23, 1944, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Wausau. She was a graduate of Edgar High School. On September 8, 1962, she was united in marriage to Joseph Schwabe at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgar. She was a homemaker and had her own babysitting business. She also worked at St. Vincent de Paul’s Thrift Store in Marshfield.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stratford. Hobbies that Mary enjoyed were sewing and crafting. She was also very skilled in quilt making. She and Joe spent a lot of time out fishing and enjoying the quiet time together.

Those who will cherish her memory include her loving husband, Joe Schwabe; her children: Susan (Mike) Fellows of Park Falls, Mike (Theresa) Schwabe of Stratford, Lori (Jeff) Dums of Medford, John (Judy) Schwabe of Stratford, Joe Schwabe Jr. of Stratford and Sandra (Gary) Dennee of Rozellville; her grandchildren: Caitlin, Bailey, Jonathon (Amanda), Joshua (Alicia), Jeffrey, Jenna (Mitch), Jessica (Zack), Makayla (Mitch), Makenzie (Nehemiah), Max, Maggie, Abbigail and Ella; and her great-grandchildren: Obsidian, Finley, Charlie, Eddie, Emma, Lawrence and Armand. She is further survived by her brother, Clarence Burish, along with many other relatives and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Dorothy Burish and her sisters, Barb and Pat.

If desired, memorials are being accepted by Mary’s family for a charity to be determined.
