Rose Anna Sokolowski, 87, of Bruce, passed away peacefully on Nov. 3, 2023, at home with her family by her side. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Ladysmith with Fr. Papi Reddy Yeruva and Deacon Doug Sorenson officiating. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Rose was born in Rossford, Ohio, on Sept. 5, 1936, daughter of John and Anna (Cervenec) Prasnicky. She attended and graduated from Glen Flora High School in 1955. On Nov. 5, 1955, she married Anthony Madlon and moved to Michigan. Together they had seven children.

Rose worked as a housekeeper and a custodian at Michigan State University. Later divorced, she returned to Wisconsin. Rose was employed at Weather Shield in Ladysmith. Aug. 21, 1987, she married Carl Sokolowski where they operated a dairy farm in Kennan. After selling the dairy farm they moved to Prentice where she retired from Weather Shield.

Family was everything to Rose. She was a loving mother, grandmother of 20, great-grandmother of 23 and a good friend to many. She enjoyed spending time in the garden, planting flowers, feeding the birds, and watching her grandchildren’s sporting events. After turning in her firearm and walking stick, she spent her hunting season registering deer and sharing stories.

Rose is survived by her children, Dee (Rick) Eberhart of Ogema, Sue (Bill) Polacek of Phillips, Ed (Judy) Madlon of Glen Flora, Ann (Brian) Brockman of Bruce; son-in-law, Lynn Heinz of Phillips; daughter- in-law, Teresa Madlon of Gilman; her brother, John Prasnicky of Sheldon; numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Anthony and Carl; daughters, Deborah, Mary and son, Tony; her brothers, Joe, Ed, Tony; and sisters, Betty, Anna, Virginia, Johana and Dorothy.

Her family gives special thanks to Home Health and Hospice of Marshfield Medical Center-Rice Lake.
