Robert Roy Mueller

1949-2023

Robert Roy Mueller, age 74, of Cable, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 2, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, Minn. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023 at Peace Lutheran Church, 10671 State Highway 27/77 in Hayward, where visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service. Interment with military honors will be in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

He was born on May 3, 1949 in Milwaukee, the son of Raymond and Marion (Kurowske) Mueller. He was united in marriage to Lois Ann Ried on Aug. 1, 1981 in Medford.

Bob proudly volunteered to join the United States Army, serving as a combat medic in Vietnam. He was a member of the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment, the “Black Horse Troopers.” Bob received a Bronze Star for heroism in combat. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. His time spent as a medic was put into good use back home as he continued his career as a medical technician for Memorial Hospital of Taylor County (later known as Aspirus).

After traveling to the Cable area for thirty years, Bob and Lois decided to purchase a home six years ago on Lake Namakagon. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors, hunting deer and birds as well as fishing both in open water and on the ice. Bob spent countless hours tinkering in his man cave, maintaining fishing gear, tying flies and reading.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Lois Mueller of Cable; his siblings, Karen (Mark) Goeglein of Borne, Texas, and Randall (Lisa) Mueller of Kenosha; his sister- in-law, Laura (Rich) Cox of Osseo; and his nieces and nephews, Deb Carrasco, Michael Goeglein, and Morgen, Andrew and Chloe Mueller.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family or to Peace Lutheran Church.
