Daniel Janda

Daniel P. Janda, 76, of Medford, passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, at Aspirus Hospital in Medford.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 18, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford with Fr. Patrick McConnell presiding.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 18, at the church.

Burial will be at a later date at Athens Cemetery. Dan was born January 3, 1947, in Eau Claire. At three months old, he was adopted by his parents, Alvin and Minnie (Kloth) Janda. He grew up on their dairy farm in Medford, and graduated from Medford High School.

After graduating high school, he went to college for two years, and joined the U.S. Army National Guard. He moved to Milwaukee where he worked at Briggs and Stratton for a few years then moved back to Medford to work on the farm and drive milk truck.

On October 20, 1973, he married Rhonda Hardt. They continued to farm the Janda farm until retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing softball and pool, snowmobiling, mowing lawn and feeding the birds.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Rhonda of Medford; four children: Tom Janda (Pam Janda), Julie Berger, Tim (Missy) Janda, all of Medford, and Jill (Davey) Eckert of Athens; six grandchildren: Braxton Janda, Braden Janda, Kassidy Janda, Kyana Janda, Karly Eckert and Sierra Berger, and his foster brother, Leo Wright.
