David Paul Larson passed peacefully in his home on April 2, 2022, at the age of 86, surrounded by loved ones. A Celebration of Life was held April 8 in Oxford, Fla. A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 9 at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Minburn, Iowa. David was born to Seth and Madeline Larson on Jan. 11, 1936 in Walford, Iowa. He graduated high school in Wellsburg, Iowa and served in the Navy as a radioman on the USS Balao and USS Trutta. Dave worked in the electric industry for 37 years in Thompson, Iowa, at Taylor Electric Cooperative in Medford as General Manager in the 1970s, and retiring as CEO of Wright-Hennepin Electric Cooperative in Rockford, Minn.

Dave was grateful to have married the two loves of his life, Shirley Smotherman, with whom he raised two daughters, and after her passing, Helga Greene, who shared his last 16 years in The Villages, Fla.

Dave was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed tinkering of all sorts, especially restoring old airplanes. Later in life, he learned to play dobro and jammed with a bluegrass band.

He is survived by his wife, Helga; daughters, Meg (Jim) Skemp and Amy Larson; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Seth and Bob; and wife, Shirley.
