Shirley A. (Hill) Granquist

1930-2022

Shirley A. (Hill) Granquist, 92, of Norway, passed away on Apr. 12, 2022, at Roubal Care and Rehab Center, Stephenson, Mich. Graveside service will be held Monday, June 6 at 2 p.m. at Norway Township Cemetery.

Shirley was born in Park Falls, Wis., on Jan. 11, 1930, the daughter of the late John Sr. and Dorothy Hill.

Shirley graduated from Lincoln High School, Milwaukee, Wis. She married John “Jack” Granquist at Grace Lutheran Church in Milwaukee on Nov. 6, 1948.

She loved and cherished family gatherings with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed bird watching and she loved her flowers. She was an avid reader of books throughout her life.

Shirley is survived by daughters, Debra (Dennis) Greenleaf of Iron Mountain; Doreen (Rocky) Carlson of Cambridge, Minn.; and Linda Cootware of Norway; and sons, Steve (Marcia) Granquist of Spalding; and Brian Granquist of Norway. She is also survived by many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Granquist; daughter, Cheryl Hetchler; and sons, Michael, Gerald and James Granquist; sons-in-law, Dale Hetchler and James Cootware; brother, John Hill, Jr.; sister, Marlene Thompson; and brother-in-law, Pete Thompson.

The family has entrusted Erickson-Rochon Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with arrangements.
