Carol M. Uekert, 83, Marathon, passed away peacefully, while under the care of Compassus Hospice on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, at Mount View Care Center, Wausau.

She was born April 28, 1938, in Merrill, daughter of the late Reuben and Ruth (Hartwig) Ollhoff. On Sept. 27, 1958, she married Donald J. Uekert at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 2002.

Carol was a proud homemaker and also worked with Donald on the family farm for over 36-1/2 years. Some of her favorite pastimes included being a historian for both the Marathon County Home and Community Education Center and The German Club PVC; Pomerian Verein of Central Wisconsin. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially sheepshead, and was active at St. John Lutheran Church, town of Rib Falls in her earlier years.

Survivors include her children: Lori (Alan) Bernarde of Marathon and Patti (Mike) Athanas of Appleton; her grandchildren: Jessica (Tyler) Salber of Green Bay, Brad (Kaitlyn) Bernarde of Wausau, Erin (Adam) Burns of Madison and Abbie Athanas of Appleton; three great-grandchildren: Quinton and Greyson Salber and Harper Bernarde; her siblings: Mary Lord of Mass., Char (Karl) Pilath of Hatley, Mike (Sandy) Ollhoff of Poynette, Mark (Josie) Ollhoff of Wausau, Gene (Peggy) Ollhoff of Wausau, Gary (Chris) Ollhoff of Merrill and Tina Ollhoff of Wausau; a sister-in-law, Arlene (Ralph) Voight of Merrill; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers: David and Jim; and sister, Katie Richey.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, at St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church, Marathon. The Rev. Jon Hadler presided. Burial was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, town of Rib Falls. Visitation was held on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service, all at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon, is in charge of arrangements.
