Loretta Ann Prasnicki
1940-2021
Loretta Ann Prasnicki, 80 of Richmond, Ky., formerly of Gilman, died Tuesday, July 6, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born on November 29, 1940, at the family home near Lublin to the late Frank and Eleanor (Krochmal) Sromek. Loretta grew up in the Gilman area until 8th grade when her family moved to Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from St. John Cantius High School in 1957 and worked for Ohio Bell for 19 years as a long-distance operator and supervisor.
Loretta married Martin Prasnicki on February 7, 1976, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Cleveland, Ohio. The couple resided just west of Gilman and farmed together until their retirement in 2013.
Loretta enjoyed painting, gardening, and baking. She taught catechism at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Gilman and enjoyed helping with many church functions. Before her marriage to Martin, Loretta enjoyed traveling to various U.S. destinations, such as Alaska & Hawaii. She was a devoted wife and loved her family immensely.
She is survived by her daughter Mary (Steven) Davis of Richmond, Ky.; her step-children Susan Dailey of Rochester, Minn., Lorie (Jimmy) Gwiazdon and Cheryl (Randy) Boone both of Eau Claire; her grandchildren Savannah Davis, Colin (Christa) Boone, Caylee Boone and Ryan (Katrina) Gwiazdon; one great-grandchild Ottilie Boone; one brother Gene (Lillian) Sromek of Brook Park, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Mary Sromek of North Royalton, Ohio. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Martin (2016); a granddaughter Alexandra Davis; her stepson Gary Prasnicki; her sister Jeanette Sromek; and her brother Edward Sromek.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 13, 2021, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church-Gilman with Father Vjay Kumar Madani officiating. Inurnment will follow in Meadowbrook Catholic Cemetery-Gilman. Visitation will be two hours prior with recitation of the Rosary at 9 a.m.
