Michael Kelly Scott, age 76, passed away on Oct. 7, 2026, in Woodbury, Minn. Michael was born on Sept. 6, 1950, in Stevens Point. He graduated from Campion High School in Prairie du Chien where he excelled as a light-weight wrestler. He attended St. Norbert College in De Pere and then went on to receive his B.A. from UW-Madison. Michael graduated with his J.D. from Marquette University Law School in 1979.

Michael worked as an attorney for many years in Milwaukee. His early legal work included defense of automobile and motorcycle manufacturers in product liability cases. Michael continued his work as a skilled trial lawyer for the Davis & Kuelthau law firm until his retirement.

Michael was an avid coin collector; assembling a rare collection of Buffalo nickels. Michael will be remembered for his passion for history, especially the Civil and World Wars. On visits to Civil War sites, Michael often knew more than the guides. He loved to travel with friends to National Parks, especially Glacier. Michael loved holidays with his family, especially

Christmas, where he would arrive armed with beautifully wrapped presents. A favorite memory is the Christmas wrapping paper wad fights with his siblings and nieces and nephews which, unfortunately, continue on to this day.

Michael was an enthusiastic supporter of Wisconsin college and professional sports, especially the Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee Brewers, Wisconsin Badgers, and the Green Bay Packers.

Friends remember watching games on TV with him where he would curse and scream at the players and coaches. He was known for his signature jump up and clap once for a good play or score. He enjoyed trips to Lake Holcombe to fish, look and listen for the loons, and spend time with family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Michael is survived by his sister, Maureen, of Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers, Terry, of Medford, Dennis (Amy), of Holcombe, and Kevin (Mary), of Lake Elmo, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ruth Mary; and brothers, James, Timothy and Patrick.

A graveside service in Medford, will be held at a later date.

If you would like to honor Michael by helping others, please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
