Virginia M. Stange, age 86, of Abbotsford, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020, at the Colby Retirement Center under the tender care of Aspirus Hospice.

A Mass of Christian burial for family only was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020, at Saint Mary Help of Christians Catholic Parish in Colby. Father Joseph Redfern presided. Interment was at Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery in Colby. Family and friends could watch the service live on the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home Facebook page or after the service anytime on Facebook or the website. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.

Virginia was born on Dec. 17, 1933, the daughter of Floyd and Mary (Schraufnagel) Treankler in the March Rapids. She graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1951. Virginia was united in marriage to Allen E. Stange on Dec. 29, 1952, at Saint Bernard’s Rectory in Abbotsford. Allen preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 2016.

Virginia was loving wife and mother and raised seven children. She enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, crossword puzzles, word searches, knitting, crocheting, needle point, sewing, gardening and bowling. Most importantly, Virginia cherished her family. Virginia is survived by six children: Jeff (Cheryl) Stange of Spencer, Scott (Donna) Stange of Unity, Randy (Mary Ann) Stange of Abbotsford, Pam (Jim) Resech of Curtiss, Michelle (Paul) Socwell of Stetsonville and Sondra (Mark Rausch) Stange of Spencer; 21 grandchildren: Matthew, Maynard, Michael, Mariah, Wayde, Gavin, Darby, Danielle, Dominique, Monica, Ryan, Beth, Adam, Codey, Elizabeth, Jasiah, Zachary, Haley, Kendra, Jarrett and Makayla; 21 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen; her son, Joseph Stange; her daughter, Rhonda Hoesly; a son-in-law, John Hoesly; a brother, Dwight Treankler, Sr.; and a sister, Darlene Haralson.
