Norman “Norm” C. Dassow, 75, Medford, died on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at Rib Lake Health Services, Rib Lake where he had resided for the past two years. Private family only services will be held in the future at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford with Father Patrick McConnell officiating. Military rites will be performed by the Medford Area Military Honors Team.

Norm was born on July 1, 1945 at Medford, the son of Elmer and Lorain (Olson) Dassow. He attended the Town of Greenwood elementary school and was a 1963 graduate of Rib Lake High School. His marriage took place on May 9, 1970 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford to Judy A. Frey.

After his education, Norm was a US Navy veteran having served from 1963-1966. After the military, he returned to the Medford area and worked for Steel Structures Construction. Then he worked as a police officer for the City of Medford and later the Taylor County Sherriff’s Dept. as an investigator until 2000. In retirement he operated Norm’s Pruning Service until ill health. He enjoyed playing cribbage, attending Brewers and Packers games, trips to Florida, coffee clutch at Rocky’s, ice cream at Moosies, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford.

Surviving are his wife, Judy of Medford; daughters, Gina (Josh) Thorson and Katie (Billy Mundt) Dassow, both of Medford; grandchildren, Brynn, Blake and Ty Thorson, Will Mundt; and his sister, Ruth Dassow of Colby.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Hart.
