Frederick Schmelzer

Frederick G. Schmelzer, 84, of Ocala, Fla., passed away Nov. 8, 2020, at Ocala Hospice Center.

Due to the COVID-19 precautions, the family will have a private memorial service at a later date.

Frederick was born June 3, 1936, to Fred and Lorna (Schultz) Schmelzer in Colby.

Fred attended school in Colby, and after graduation from high school he joined the Army for two years. After graduation from college he taught in several Wisconsin schools. He then relocated to Florida where he taught at schools in Kissimmee and Ocala.

Fred enjoyed fishing with his friend Gary in Bemidji, Minn. He also enjoyed garage sales, flea markets and going to antique shops.

Frederick is survived by his sister, Shirley (Morris) Wussow of Wisconsin Rapids; sister-inlaw, Janice Schmelzer; as well as nephews: Kevin and Kurt Wussow; nieces: Jackie O’Neil and Sue Hawley.

Fredrick was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lorna Schmelzer; his grandparents; his brother, Roger Schmelzer; his nephew, Brian Schmelzer and niece, Kimberly Audetat.
