Ronald R. Kraus, 83, of the township of Deer Creek, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020 at his residence, surrounded by family, under the care of Hope Hospice. Funeral services took place at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Russow officiating. Burial followed at Zion Ev. Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation took place at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Ronald was born on Sept. 19, 1936 to Joseph and Clara (Janke) Kraus in the township of Deer Creek. He married Esther Haider on May 30, 1964 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Rib Lake and she survives. Ronald served in the Army from 1960-1965. He then went on to farm the family farm from 1988-1997. He also hauled milk for his brother, Marlin, from 1952-1982. After farming he worked for Contemporary Homes from 1998 until his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and neighbors, working on his Massey-Harris 30 and watching the Packers. He also enjoyed listening and dancing to polka music and traveling around the country with his polka friends.

In addition to his wife, Ronald is survived by his children, Denise (Donn) Ress of Spencer, Dennis (Stephanie) Kraus of Verona and Ricky (Jennifer) Kraus of Bowling Green, Ky.; grandchildren, Stefanie Ress of Altoona, David Ress of Stevens Point, Logan and Carson Kraus of Verona and Travis, Benjamin and Madelyne Kraus, all of Bowling Green, Ky.; and sister-in-law, Glora Mae Kraus of Medford. Ronald is further survived by many other family and friends.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Marlin and Gerald Kraus.
