James “Jim” J. Penk, 65, of Lublin, died on Dec. 31, 2019, of a result of an auto accident. A memorial mass was held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 6 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin. Inurnment followed in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation was from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday at the Gilman Funeral Home with a 5 p.m. Knight of Columbus Rosary and one hour prior to services on Monday morning at the church.

Jim was born on Aug. 23, 1954, the son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Kijak) Penk. He grew up in the Lublin area and graduated from Gilman High School in 1972. He married Carolyn Halida on Sept. 18, 1976 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin.

Jim worked in the woods for Jermar Logging while in operation and farmed his whole life. He belonged to the Sons of the American Legion, the Gilman Knights of Columbus, the Roosevelt Rod and Gun Club, the Lublin Volunteer Fire Dept. and was town supervisor for 15 years. He really enjoyed hunting, fishing and making maple syrup. One of his biggest joys in life was spending time with his family, especially the grandkids. He really enjoyed the times we would spend at the cabin.

Jim is survived by the love of his life, of 43 years, Carolyn of Lublin; his children, Josh (Jill) Penk and Sunnie Robinson, all of Lublin and Adam (Kris Hamm) Penk of Greenwood; seven grandchildren, Ashlee, Karsyn, Landon, Dawson, Kallie, Jazmyn and Hayden; four sisters, Joyce (Tony) Hellenbrand of Madison, Janice (Bob) Greer, Jacqueline (Bob) Baird and Jean (John) Walker, all of Warren, Minn.; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Barb (Don) Cwikla of Withee, Mary Losiewicz and Geraldine Dmytro, both of Medford, Stanley (Dorothy) Halida Jr. and Roger Halida, both of Lublin and Ray (Susan) Halida of Colby; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Josephine Penk; in-laws, Stanley and Stella Halida; son-in-law, Kenneth Robinson; and brothers-in-law, Richard Losiewicz and Jeffery Dmytro.
