1943-2019

Joseph “Joe” L. Schupp, 76, of Owen, passed away peacefully at his home on Nov. 24, 2019. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 1-5 p.m. at the VFW Post No. 5729, 240 South 8th Street, Medford.

Joe was born Sept. 8, 1943, in Medford to the late Victor and Melda (Kimble) Schupp. He attended Medford Area Schools and was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Joe was not only fortunate to find love once, but also a second time when he married Kathleen M. Neuman on March 21, 2009 in Medford. He worked for Weather Shield Manufacturing for 44 years. There he started on the plant floor making windows and later became plant manager of the Assembly Division, finishing his career at Weather Shield in the R& D Department and Special Projects. He was an avid softball player and had a special place in his heart for his former teammates. His love for cars often found him in his garage tinkering and fixing vehicles of all kinds. A few of his hobbies included building metal replicas of trucks and tractors, modifying vehicles, carpentry, and of course, watching Nascar.

Joe is survived by his wife, Kathy Schupp; daughter, Diana (Robb) Halverson of Wausau; grandson, Taylor Halverson; three sisters, Garnet (John) Jakel and Judy (Ron) Wegerer, all of Medford, and Nadene Hoffart of Grand Forks, N.D.; a brother, Victor (Bonnie) Schupp of Sheboygan; many nieces and nephews; other family and friends including Susan White.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Jerome Schupp; a sister, Geraldeen Rodda; brothers-in-law, Robert Rodda and Richard Hoffart; and a niece, Theresa Hoffart.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Aspirus Wausau Hospital and especially Megan Schmidt, APNP of Radiology Associates of Wausau.
