Margaret “Marge” E. Thums passed away on Nov. 7, 2019 at Aspirus Care and Rehab, Medford, where she had resided for the past four years, surrounded by her loving family. A funeral mass was held on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake with Father Hrudaya Raju Sunkara officiating. Visitation was held at the church on Monday, Nov. 11 from 4-7 p.m. with a rosary service at 7 p.m. Visitation continued on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment followed the service at Lakeview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Nick and Chris Hebda, Stephanie Isakson, Hilary Thums, Curtis Dassow, Brock Emmerich, Nicole Peterson and Carly Dassow. Honorary pallbearers were Jessica Gosse, Megan Thums, Amanda Jones, Morgan Thums, Casey Borchardt and Jena Faber.

Margaret was born on March 23, 1926 in Medford to Nicholas and Margaret (Hedler) Gengler. She married George Thums on Oct. 1, 1947. Margaret worked part-time as a receptionist for Klinner Insurance, Rib Lake office, she was also a matron for Taylor County Sherriff’s Department and was a charter member of Tops No. 1013, Rib Lake. In her free time, Margaret enjoyed embroidery, making quilts and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish in her loving memory are her children, Judi (Stan) Hebda, Jeff (Julia), Gary (Rose), all of Rib Lake, Jan (Arnie) Dassow of Medford and Jayne (Jeff) Beechey of Winter; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, George, in January 2003; her parents; brothers, Jerome, Harold, Arnold and Donald; and sisters, Josephine Wudi and Joyce Fisher.
