Alice Lorraine Gengler, 95, a former township of Molitor resident, passed away on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019 at Care Partners Assisted Living in Medford, where she had resided for the past 18 months, most recently under the care of Hope Hospice. A memorial mass took place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford with Father Patrick McConnell officiating. Visitation took place at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. Interment of her cremated remains took place at Molitor Catholic Cemetery in the town of Molitor.

Alice was born on Aug. 19, 1924 in the township of Molitor to the late Beulah Mae (Donaldson) and Sherman William Higgins. She attended town of Molitor elementary schools. On Nov. 25, 1943, in San Diego, Calif., she married Matthew P. Gengler and he preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 2004. They farmed in the town of Molitor for a period of time. She drove school bus, worked as a housewife and mother and worked at Weather Shield Mfg. in Medford for many years until her retirement. Alice enjoyed playing cards, birds, flowers, baking and was known to her grandchildren as the “Jellybean Grandma.” She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Alice is survived by her children, Sally (Ron) Banks of Dorchester, Peggy (Dale) Obernberger of Stratford, Vicky Gengler and Terry (Cindy) Gengler, all of Chippewa Falls and Matt Jr. (Sue) Gengler of Medford; daughter-in-law, Patty Gengler of Medford; 15 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; and siblings, Richard (Irene) Higgins, Roger (Faye) Higgins and Florence Hein, all of Medford.

In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her sons, Gerald in 1944 and Tom in 2016; and her siblings, Genevieve Gengler, Caroline Butler, Glen Higgins and Marie Nelson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to the family for a future designation.
