Jane Elizabeth Toro
1950-2026
Jane Elizabeth (Harris) Toro passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026. Jane was born Nov. 16, 1950, in Eau Claire, to Kenneth and Marjorie Harris. Jane’s family included two brothers, Kendean and Wayne, as well as two sisters (deceased), Lynn and Christine. Jane graduated from Altoona High School in 1968. While in high school, Jane was homecoming queen and worked as a carhop at the Pronto Drive In, owned by her parents.
Jane earned her Registered Nursing Degree from Chippewa Valley Technical College in 1988. She served as a Registered Nurse/Director of Nursing for decades. Jane was the most caring nurse and inspired others to lead their care with kindness and compassion.
Jane married Greg Toro on Oct. 14, 1995. Greg and Jane spent many years in Arizona enjoying the sunshine and traveling. The two were married for 31 years. Jane was a loving, devoted wife and mother. Jane loved animals and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Jane is survived by her husband, Greg Toro, and his father, Roland Toro. As well as her four daughters, Ericka (Matt) Howard, Caryn (Mike) Carr, Angel (Brian) Phillips, and Becca (Garett) Klingbeil; grandchildren, Cloe and Sean Carr, London Zien, and Jack and Ada Klingbeil; bonus grandchildren, Reagan, Mason, Sullivan (Wolf), and Ella Phillips. In-laws, include Deb (John) Pronschinske and Scott Toro.
Jane was preceded in death by her two sisters, Lynn Harris and Christine Wachtler; her mother, Marjorie Harris; her mother-in-law, Shirley Toro; and stepson, Teddy Franklin.
Jane Toro’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 1-5 pm at Lake Altoona County Park Clubhouse, 604 Beach Rd, Altoona, WI 54720. A meal will be provided.
