Beatrice Verhulst

Beatrice M. Verhulst, 94, Marshfield, passed on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026 at Safe Haven Senior Care, Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield, with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Rev. Dan Thelen will officiate. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Beatrice was born on Aug. 3, 1932, in Marshfield, to Frank and Margaret (Bohman) Resch. She was a homemaker for most of her life and later worked retouching photographs for John H. Keel. Beatrice was united in marriage to Kenneth P. Verhulst on Sept. 4, 1951, at St. John’s Catholic Church. He passed away on March 4, 2015.

Beatrice enjoyed sewing, gardening, roller skating, and baking — especially zucchini cookies and cucumber soup.

She is survived by her children: Jerry (Sheveney) Verhulst of Marshfield, Cheryl (Wally) Hribar of Prior Lake, Minn., Barb (Tim) Nagel of Marshfield, and Diane (Matt) Ruzic of Rhinelander. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Corrine Verhulst in West Village Lake, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and granddaughter, Angel Hribar.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Safe Haven and her neighbors, Gary and Sandy Strey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to St. John’s Catholic Church or Marshfield Area Pet Shelter (MAPS).
