David “Dave” Lee Pietenpol, 92, passed away, Monday, July 27, 2026.

Dave was born in Granton, to Bernard and Isabell Pietenpol, Feb. 12, 1934.

He had two sisters, JoAnn and Nancy, and one brother, Daniel. The family moved various times in his early life, before settling in Neillsville.

Dave married Rose Marie “Mary” Pflughoeft, May 7, 1955. They were married for 68 years, until Mary’s passing, in 2023.

After Dave’s graduation from tech school and a fouryear service, in the U.S. Army, including a stint in Greenland, Dave and Mary moved to Altoona. During their time in Altoona, their two sons were born.

The family enjoyed attending Civil War history events and competitive shooting, with vintage weapons. They also traveled, fished, hunted and camped together.

In his career, Dave worked as a carpenter, for various contractors and even ran his own business, for a time. His final working years, were spent at Sacred Heart Hospital, as their resident carpenter.

Upon retirement in 1996, he and Mary moved to Holcombe, where he had built their dream log home. This property had plenty of space for his new hobby of restoring antique Willies, Ford and Studebaker cars.

He is survived by his sister – Nancy; sons – Mike (Theresa) and John (Jane); granddaughter – Naomi (Alex) Peterson; and new twin great-grandsons – Tad and Kit.

A celebration of life service is Saturday, Aug. 29, at Holcombe United Methodist Church. Visitation is at 10 a.m., with the service to follow, at 11 a.m. All are welcome to stay for a light luncheon, after the service.

Donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in lieu of flowers, would be deeply appreciated.

Borton-Leiser Funeral Home and Cremation Services, in Cornell, is assisting the family.
