Rollen C. McCartney

1947-2026

Rollen C. McCartney passed away on July 18, 2026 surrounded by family at VitaCare assisted living under the care of Hope Hospice.

Rollen C. McCartney was born on March 4, 1947 to the late Ernest and Ella (Cammack) Mc-Cartney.

Rollen married the love of his life, Violet Kroeplin on May 26, 1973. She passed away on May 5, 1996.

Rollen attended school in Ely, Minn. for a couple years before returning to Gilman. After school Rollen worked numerous jobs that allowed him to travel around the world. In Rollen’s later years he worked at Drangle’s Cheese factory and spent 12 1/2 years working at the Gilman Corner Store before retiring.

Rollen enjoyed life and always had a smile on his face. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Rollen had a generous heart and would give his last dollar to anyone in need. Rollen will be tremendously missed by his friends and family.

Rollen is survived by his daughter, Joelle Mc-Cartney; and numerous other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ella; his wife, Violet; and his granddaughter, Rebecca McCartney.

Funeral will be held on July 23, 2026. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. funeral to follow at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Hannibal with Pastor Beverly Thompson officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Meadowbrook Cemetery- Gilman.
