Clarence “Windy” J. Boxrucker, 96, of Stetsonville, passed away on Friday, Jan. 31, 2020 at his residence in the town of Deer Creek, under the care of his family and Hope Hospice and Palliative Care. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford Chapel with Reverend David Clements officiating. Military Rites were held following the service at the funeral home by the Boxrucker-Berry American Legion Post No. 519, Stetsonville. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Feb. 4 from 4-7 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial followed at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Stetsonville. Pallbearers were his grandsons.

Windy was born on April 11, 1923, in Dorchester, to Jacob and Elizabeth (Schumacher) Boxrucker. He attended Dorchester and Stetsonville area schools. After his education, he drove log truck for Peterson Lumber and played semi-pro baseball for the Chicago Cubs. In 1943, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, until 1946. He was a World War II veteran in the Blue Devils - 88th Division. After returning to the area after the military, he was united in marriage to Marjorie “Marge” Waldhart on July 24, 1946 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stetsonville. Together, they welcomed six children. Windy worked for O & N Lumber Company, Stetsonville Farmers Union Co-Op and drove gas truck for Fred Dahl. He retired as a foreman at Foremost Foods in Medford. In retirement, he was a hobby farmer in the town of Deer Creek, worked with Stockwell Auction and operated Jake’s Bar in Stetsonville for a period of time. In Windy’s free time, he enjoyed mowing the lawn, polka music, shuttling the Amish community, curling, bowling and spending time with his family. Windy was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stetsonville, past fire chief of the Stetsonville Volunteer Fire Department and Boxrucker-Berry American Legion Post No. 519, Stetsonville.

Left to cherish in Windy’s memory is his wife, Marge of Stetsonville; children, Judith (Warren) Vircks of Cudahy, Jayne Ehlert, Jay (Karen) Boxrucker and Jina (Robert) Lange, all of Medford and Jeffry (Diane) Boxrucker of Norman, Okla.; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three greatgreat- grandchildren; and a brother, Edward Boxrucker of Medford.

Along with his parents, Windy was preceded in death by his son, John “Jack” Boxrucker in 2019; sonin- law, Gene Ehlert in 2015; brothers, Al (Agnes) and Raymond (Arlene) Boxrucker; sisters, Leona (Ed) Blasel and Delores (Adolph) Dums; and his sister-inlaw, Jean Boxrucker.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Windy’s name can be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Stetsonville or Hope Hospice and Palliative Care of Medford.
