Donna Lea Stanke

1947-2026

Donna Lea Stanke, age 78, of Dorchester, entered her heavenly home Sunday, March 15, 2026 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. The daughter of Robert and Betty (Dawson) Venzke, Donna was born July 3, 1947 in Marshfield. Donna graduated from Medford High School and then attended Taylor County Teachers College. Donna devoted her professional life to education, teaching in several local schools and faithfully serving the students and families she encountered along the way.

On Aug. 10, 1968 Donna was united in marriage to David Stanke at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Dorchester. Together they built a life grounded in faith, love, and steady devotion, and were blessed with three children, Dawn, Robert, and David Jr.

Donna found great joy in the simple beauty of God’s creation, especially in feeding and watching the birds in her yard. She delighted in each new species she was able to attract. She is remembered for her bright smile, great laugh and her quiet willingness to help others. Above all, Donna was deeply devoted to her family. She lovingly cared for her husband and took immense pride in her children and grandchildren, who were the true joy of her life.

Donna is lovingly survived by her husband, David; her children, Dawn (Walter) Fredrickson, Robert Stanke, and David Jr. (Holly) Standke; and eight cherished grandchildren, Ruby and Lily Fredrickson; Gabe, Michael, and Braxton Stanke; and Emily, Luke, and Jackson Standke. She is also survived by her sister, Darlene (Ralph) Berry.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby, with Reverend James Groleau officiating. Visitation will take place at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. The Maurina Schilling Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
